Danél Muller
Danél Muller began her quilting journey in 2006. Drawing on her diverse background in information technology, art and music, she infuses her quilt designs with creativity, precision and innovation. Through her teaching and creative work, she inspires and motivates others to discover the joy of quilting. Her motto, “Knowledge brings confidence – Building a new generation of quilters,” reflects her passion for empowering quilters with the skills and confidence to succeed.
In 2011, her quilt A Colourful Palette was featured as part of a solo exhibition by renowned South African artist Pieter van Rensburg. Since then, her quilts have been exhibited at prestigious venues throughout South Africa. Her work has also travelled nationally as part of the South African Quilters’ Guild (SAQG) Travelling Exhibition and the International Quilt Convention South Africa (IQCSA), as well as internationally in Germany, Ireland and Scotland.
An accredited teacher with the South African Quilters’ Guild (SAQG), Danél teaches a wide range of quilting techniques, from essential foundational skills to advanced art quilting methods. She has taught at the last three South African National Quilt Festivals in Cape Town and Pietermaritzburg, and in 2026 will present a two-day beginner quilting workshop at the National Quilt Festival in Gqeberha. In 2024, she was invited to present the lecture Music as Quilt Inspiration at the National Quilt Festival in Pietermaritzburg, exploring the connection between music, creativity and quilt design.
Danél teaches by invitation and from her home studio, where she continues to nurture creativity, build confidence and inspire quilters of all experience levels.
