Portrait study is a technique class on how to use layered net as a method of embellishment. Danél encourages each student to experiment with the palette of light net over dark fabric. This is a one-day – 6 Hour class. Danél uses her arsenal of tools like cellphone apps and PC programs to plot and transfer the patterns. She also gives advice on how to obtain and use those. She explain the technique step by step from tone mapping an existing image to how to apply the final touches.
Her goal of the class is to familiarize students how to use layered net as a method of embellishment in art quilting. This class includes machine and handwork. A compulsory kit is part of this class and therefore gives the students the opportunity to experiment with the different fabrics used in this technique.
As a result of the project that finishes as A3 it therefore is in a size the to make a wall hanging. This class is hands-on, and fills every student with energy to experiment with the technique. Art quilt students with at least an intermediate skills level enjoys this class.
