How difficult is it to quilt?

If you can sew a straight(ish) line on a sewing machine, you can learn to machine piece and quilt. Like all skills it takes practice.

Is it possible to do patchwork and quilting without spending a lot of money?

Yes, I like to do hand piecing and patchwork with only a needle and thread and a small pair of scissors. This is part of “the slow movement” and a wonderful way to meditate if you find stilling your inner self enough, for meditation or prayer.

How do you get all your corners to match when doing patchwork piecing?

Accuracy starts with good preparation of a pattern, careful cutting and measured machine work. Lots of practice also makes accuracy easier.

Does it take a lot of time to quilt?

Sewing in general, and quilting specifically is a hobby that you can easily pack up and unpack unlike other hobbies that require paint to dry and dirty hands. Quilting is about the process and not so much about the product.

Where can I learn to quilt?

If you are around Pretoria, South Africa, you can contact me at info@lenad.co.za or phone me at 0824167690 to get my latest schedule of lessons. If you are further away, I am willing to travel to teach a group, contact me. If you are too far, contact your local quilting group or guild.

What kind of quilting do you teach?

I teach anything from very traditional to funky arty quilts. I love working with children. Currently I am teaching beginners and the portrait study in net.
